Long Beach City College — Room T-2023 Office Improvement
Koala Design & Build completed a public works office improvement project at Long Beach City College involving the renovation of an existing campus space into a refreshed administrative office environment. The scope included selective demolition, framing and finish upgrades, ceiling grid and acoustic tile installation, lighting and electrical improvements, low-voltage coordination, HVAC diffuser and return grille adjustments, fire sprinkler coordination, signage, painting, sealants, and closeout documentation under school district and DSA-related construction procedures.
This project required careful coordination within an active college campus, with attention to existing building conditions, ceiling and deck conflicts, MEP routing, inspection requirements, and schedule-sensitive installation sequencing. Our team managed RFIs, submittals, material approvals, field coordination, and final documentation to help deliver a clean, functional, code-conscious space while minimizing disruption to campus operations.
Fullerton Airport — Terminal Building Tower Rehabilitation
Koala Design & Build was awarded a public works rehabilitation project at the Fullerton Airport Terminal Building, focused on restoring and upgrading portions of the existing airport tower facility. The scope included tower cab window resealing, glazing coordination, interior railing and handrail improvements, flooring and stair finish upgrades, painting, exterior signage coordination, waterproofing considerations, and related field repairs within an active aviation environment.
Working at an operational airport required heightened attention to safety, access, scheduling, site logistics, and coordination with municipal staff and airport operations. The project involved a combination of exterior envelope work, interior finish improvements, and specialty installation details, demonstrating our ability to manage sensitive public facilities where compliance, communication, and careful execution are just as important as the construction work itself.
